Love in Bali

Volunteer in Bali
Bali is magical. The most famous island in Indonesia, Bali blends spectacular mountain scenery and beautiful beaches with warm and friendly people, a vibrant culture and out-of-this-world resorts. The mere mention of Bali evokes thoughts of paradise. It's more than a place: it's a mood, an aspiration, a tropical state of mind.

Teaching Program

Bali Island

Bali has become a global tourist destination where the knowledge of the English language has become a crucial skill in acquiring employment. With the knowledge and confidence to partake in conversational English with foreigners, the children will have the tools to better enhance theirs and their families future.

By introducing creative English lessons, the students thrive in their learning and are only to keen to share with you their knowledge through conversation. It is always worth while to research the latest teaching techniques into teaching English as a second language and apply this to your lessons to keep your students excited in their learning.

The Teaching Program is in the coastal fishing village Bali. It  provides free english classes to the children of the village and other activities such as sport, art, music & dance.

English classes at both centers are run from Monday to Thursday, with the option to explore the rest of Bali on your long weekends if you so wish.

A Volunteer’s schedule

Volunteers are expected to arrive on Saturday or Sunday. We will have a brief orientation on Sunday morning and help volunteers to get familiar with the centre. From Monday to Thursday volunteers will teach English (or other subjects). From Friday to Sunday there will not be any classes so volunteers can choose to travel around Bali.

Wildlife Conservation

Nusa Penida island

Nusa Penida is only 45 minutes by boat from the mainland. Volunteering with us on Bali’s Nusa Penida Island is a great way to learn about conservation and community development while getting the chance to live among traditional communities on a beautiful island. Our partner has been running their conservation and community development projects on Nusa Penida since 2004, with a focus on wildlife, including Indonesian bird species and sea turtles. In return for the community-based protection of wildlife, it also sponsors children to attend school and university, runs a community library, funds traditional dance classes, teaches sustainable farming, grows and freely distributes tree saplings for villages to generate future income from agro-forestry and plants trees on degraded land to restore forests.

Volunteer's Responsibilities include but not limited to

  • Assist in the nursery

  • Plant and monitor status of tree saplings on reforestation sites

  • Plant saplings along roadways to create corridors of trees across the island

  • Build fire breaks on reforestation sites to protect the tree saplings

  • Work in our demonstration organic gardens

  • Monitor & count the status of the saplings on the reforestation site

  • Write grant proposals to raise funds

A Volunteer’s schedule

Volunteers generally work for 3 – 4 hours a day. In addition, we invite locals to come to the centre in the evenings to practice their spoken English and we request that volunteers are available to provide conversational English classes.

It is a small traditional village surrounded by beautiful rice fields and it also happens to be the biggest archaeological site in Bali with 44 temples (most of them declared National Heritage) and a Prehistory museum. Downtown Pejeng is lively with a morning market and a night market and plenty of Warungs to taste Balinese and Indonesian food.
