What're the advantages of being a drone pilot?

Huge Demand for Drone Pilot

The huge market has made the license holders of UAV of great demand. At the end of 2015, the number of certified pilot in China was 2142, and this number was increased to 22743 by the end of 2015. Even so, the number of professionals still cannot keep up with the needs of rapidly developing industries.

What is AOPA?

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of China (AOPAChina), established on 17th August 2004, is the national industry association under the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) and IAOPA (International Council of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). IAOPA is the only legal representative in China. In November 2013, CAAC issued the advisory notice “Provisional Regulations on the Management of Pilots for Civil Unmanned Aircraft Systems”, which stipulates the methods and procedures for civilian drone pilot management. In April 2014, CAAC authorized the AOPA to management the qualification of drone pilots.

Why APOA license is required?

Drones have developed rapidly in recent years. Aerial drones have been seen in aerial photography, plant protection, patrol, and surveillance. According to statistics, China’s current demand for UAV drones is very large. The demand for UAV pilots including surveying, electricity, meteorology, environmental protection, land, and maritime supervision is around 50,000, but on 31st December 2015, there were only 2,142 licensed pilots in China, and they will be in a state of supply fails to meet the demand.

There are also many potential risks to the society from flying drones. Due to the lack of professional training, drone pilots do not understand the aviation regulations and can fly under what circumstances. There is not a good understanding of where to fly that cause many security incidents. So you can't wait to fly the drone for the addicted flying fancier. If you want to be a legitimate professional pilot, you must first obtain the "drone system pilot license". This license is authorized by the Civil Aviation Administration of China which can issue the license to professional drone pilots who passed training.

Under what circumstances must own the license?

According to the Civil Aviation Unmanned Pilot Management Regulations (AC-61-FS-2016-20R1) issued by the Flight Standards Division of CAAC in July 2016, the civilian drone pilot license is still classified into the pilot, caption, coach three kinds. These three types of licenses can be classified into multiple types based on category (fixed-wing, multi-rotor) and levels (levels classified by drone weight). Among them, the level table is as follows:

AOPA Examination Process
